Paul Supplies 85 Countries All Over the World

Growing sales, increasing exports and a full order book. Paul Maschinenfabrik looks back on a successful and eventful year 2021. The Covid-19 virus, supply bottlenecks and high raw material prices cannot slow the company down on its way to a record year. The export share is 75 percent and machines made in Dürmentingen reach almost all parts of the world, except for the Antarctic.

The year started with a significant change in personnel: The then managing partner Barbara Hering got support from the next generation. Since then, Alexander and Maximilian Paul have been at her side. This means that the company will remain a Swabian family business in the future. Under the leadership of this strong trio, they continue to look to the future with confidence. Paul continues to hold on to the Dürmentingen, Riedlingen and Rottweil-Neukirch locations as production sites, as evidenced by investments in modern production facilities and company buildings. Digitalisation also progressed, and the digital recording of time tickets will from now on allow more precise planning than before.

Paul set global standards in its product sectors last year. Especially the increasing needs for automation and sustainability led to new developments and patents. Here, among other things, Paul addressed the topics of defect detection and stacking in timber processing. A unique rip scanner detects timber defects in solid wood (e.g. knots) already before the workpieces are ripped and automatically aligns them in front of the circular ripsaw. Worldwide projects for high-tech systems demonstrate the great interest in Paul. Fully automated cable drum production in the USA, sustainable pallet production with KUKA stacking robot in Germany and defect-free birch board production for Latvia, to name just a few.
Meanwhile, the prestressed concrete department has been able to benefit from political decisions; it is a relevant supplier to important infrastructure sectors, such as bridge construction, the railway network and wind power: New anchor manufacturing systems from Paul produce and inspect tendons for wind power towers up to 150 meters in height. Automatic stressing machines with automatic monitoring and documentation produce concrete sleepers according to the new railway standard, thus modernizing and expanding the infrastructure in Germany. Exports to the USA and Russia did not fail to occur either. For example, 23 trucks left the factory in Dürmentingen for a single precast plant with the destination Moscow.

In order to implement these numerous large-scale projects smoothly, an internationally active company depends on reliable and loyal employees. Unfortunately, the dignified tribute at the end-of-year party had to be cancelled again, as the health of the staff came first. In the past year, many employees have again been honoured for their many years of outstanding services to the company and can look back on a total of 460 years of service: Friedrich Müller, Arnulf Ocker, Robert Sigg (each 50 years of service), Uwe Fischer, Rudolf Frick, Reinhold Jutz, Robert Mack (each 40 years of service), Hermann Fetscher, Waldemar Ortlieb, Durak Supi, Wilhelm Wied (each 25 years of service), Sandra Hrastnik, Fabian Miller, Ulrike Ocker, Wolfgang Paal and Maximilian Paul (each 10 years of service). The Paul management would like to thank them for their great and, above all, long commitment and wish everyone a happy and healthy new year.
