The summer party of Paul Maschinenfabrik took place in Dürmentingen on Friday, 19 July. Although many events are currently being cancelled due to continuous rain, the forecasts for this event were promising. Even so, a storm cloud missed Dürmentingen by a hair's breadth, but spared the revellers, so that the party only ended late at night.
The thoroughly well-organised summer party was a complete success. The first guests arrived on time at 3 pm. They were welcomed by Harald Selg (employee representative) and Barbara Hering (management). Ten teams with creative-sounding names such as Concrete Cowboys, FC Kurzschluss (FC Short Circuit) and 1. FC Vorschub (1st FC Feed) took part in the Human Table Soccer tournament. All non-footballers could pass the time with ‘Hau den Lukas’ ('High Striker') or goal wall shooting or simply listen to the sounds of the ‘Sofaband’ from Riedlingen while enjoying sweet crèpes or a cool drink. There was something for every taste among the about 330 attending guests, including many former employees.
At around 5.15 pm, Barbara Hering, Frank Wiehl and Dürmentingen's mayor Dietmar Holstein honoured long-standing employees for their loyal service to Paul Maschinenfabrik. A total of eight employees were honoured, Christoph Baur, Wolfgang Birk, Philip Boos, Claudia May, Christian Remensperger and Matthias Weber for 25 years of service as well as Dieter Denzel and Markus Zentner for 40 years of service at Paul. Following the honours, those present stormed the buffet, which had grown in the meantime to include a barbecue van with salad buffet and a cheese spaetzle van next to the crèpes stand.
The ‘Spannbeton Büro’ (‘Prestressed Concrete Office') team won the Human Table Soccer tournament. They finished first, ahead of the teams from Rottweil (2) and the training workshop (3). But the summer party was far from over. During the cosy get-together, there were interesting conversations between colleagues and even a game of table tennis late in the evening, while others danced to the music of DJ Matra and partied until 4 am.
